Biochar is an emerging material of interest in environmental remediation, soil quality improvements, and carbon sequestration. While it shares similarities with activated carbon, its applications and properties can vary widely. At EPS Labs, we offer biochar testing services using applicable activated carbon characterization methods, providing critical insight into its adsorptive and physical properties.

What we can test
Our lab is equipped to test biochar using analytical methods typically applied to activated carbon. These include but are not limited to:
- Surface Area and Pore Size Distribution
- Iodine Number
- Ash Content
- Moisture and Volatile Matter Content
- Bulk Density
WHY USE ACTIVATED CARBON STANDARDS?
Although biochar is not the same as activated carbon, many of its physical and adsorptive characteristics can be evaluated using overlapping standard methods.
